Synopsis: The Hologram’s online work began almost exactly after the moment when the day before became “life before.” And when we sat, minds racing in our homes and thinking and fearing the unthinkable, the Hologram was already in motion. One part art, one part activism and one part science fiction, Cassie Thornton, Shawn Chua and Lauren Klein describe their process of seizing and repurposing platforms to create a desperately needed and blossoming practice based support structure. When the ecologies of our earth change, so do the ways we live on it. Our habits and routines, our individual and common horizons and also the oil, gas and food logistics– that are politically supported by parties interested in particular ways of being in this world– are in flux. (more…)

After shooting the pilot episode of Days—an adaption of the American soap opera Days of Our Lives—we are now developing the forthcoming season. Various collaborations redirect libidinally driven storylines towards some of the concerns of Berlin’s precariat: the nature of abstract, emotional and unpaid labor. We share some of our process through a trailer, a talk, and staged melodrama.  (more…)

The Semi-Show is a trash TV absurdist talk show revolving around the notion of “semi-”. A playful expression of feminism, reflecting on contemporary power-structures, affective hierarchies and naked politics: semi-sexual, semi-local, semi-interactive, semi-expertise. Half-way interrupted formats follow one another. The show moves through virtual imagery inviting the audience to follow masterclasses, absurd games and the band’s performance compressed into a one minute span. (more…)

Elske Rosenfeld
Harun Farocki’s film Hard Selling was scheduled to be shown on East German TV one month before its dissolution at the end of 1991. It was, however, never shown and never completed. In the film, Farocki looks at a West German adidas salesman as he looks at the East through car and shop windows. In her re-framing, Rosenfeld looks back at both from an East perspective, some 30 years on. Responding to the film stills, fragments of conversations and announcement texts of Farocki’s film, she mobilizes the figure of the “window” as a frame to submit the conversations and gazes at shop windows, screens and trainers to a poetic-analytical editing.  (more…)

PRAAB (Programme de Réhabilitation à l’Amitié et à l’Amour par le Bureau) is a nonlinear fiction video game accessible online, shaped during the pandemic and imagined for anyone nostalgic about office culture. Through endless caricatural conversations about birthday cake or coffee breaks, and before venturing back into real-life workspaces, you might recover your social skills while relearning how to interact physically with a colleague.  (more…)

Instead of reaching out to be rejected, tokenized or stepped over, DNA organizes, takes ownership, and creates communal agency. In this case, the collective is a feminist strategy that cancels the singular artist model as a producer of finished art commodities.
